What's
Happening @ Idyllwood?!
2011 Workshops
This year, we will be offering workshops throughout the year with some
of our friends! If any of these workshops interest you, please let us
know. We are still "testing the waters" to see what people
are interested in learning about.
Herbal
Skills - Summer 2011 - CANCELLED
Join Jane Hayes and Courtney Raponi to identify common Ontario wild
and not-so-wild herbs, their habitats and uses. We'll discuss their
traditional healing qualities as well as practice sustainable harvesting
and preserving. We'll also make a seasonal snack/lunch, two useful herbal
remedies and Idyllwood is offering a 'wild' herb from the farm to take
home! The workshop also includes a 15+ page handout.
Other Upcoming Workshops:
Seed Saving: A Public Domain - Autumn 2011 with Leeshia Barwick
Women and Carpentry - Autumn/Winter 2011 with Ali Lam
Past Workshops:
Natural Finishes Workshop - Summer 2011 with Sebastian
Renel
From plastering with straw and mud
To playing like a kid with cob,
Striving for refreshing air
Nature has a lot to share.
For the wellbeing of human kind,
For those chickens or the swine,
Building with clay and sand
Will make a difference in the end.
The natural finishes workshop at Idyllwood will cover plasters, alis
paints and cob building. An amazing chicken coop will also be covered
with these materials.
These building techniques can be applied to a wide range of projects,
from new building to renovations. They are all very affordable, durable
and most of all, healthy and fun to explore.
Join us for the hands-on learning experience, but also for the fun games,
wonderful food, and for the beautiful people who care for each other
and the planet.
